You are bidding on TWO Fisher-Price Play Family Sesame Street sets (#938 and #937) that Fisher-Price made for only 5 years, from 1975 to 1979.  The two-story brownstone apartment house, clubhouse, furniture, and 13 original Sesame Street characters are in remarkably good condition, considering that the sets are more than 30 years old and have been gently played with.  So how are the house and clubhouse different from the new sets that you would have bought in a store in 1977?  They have been loved and gently played with, but we did our best to restore them to good condition.  First we thoroughly sanitized the house, clubhouse, furniture, and characters with Pampers Clean 'n Play Kid-Safe Multi-Surface Cleaner. We saw that the original chalk and eraser were long gone. So we bought a box of brand-new multicolored chalk and a kid-size felt blackboard eraser with a wood handle and added them to the set.  Now you can write and draw on the green chalkboard that connects the two parts of the Sesame Street house. We noticed that Bert and Ernie's monogrammed beds were in need of new mattresses (we think all mattresses should be changed at least every 30 years.)  So we replaced the old foam mattresses with color-coordinated foam.Then we got two new white cardboard boxes and applied photographic reproductions of the original retail boxes to them, and attached Velcro closures to the the box tops so that they can serve as storage boxes for the two sets. Now the sets are in great shape to sit on the shelf as collector's items, or better yet, to give to a child for a birthday or any special occasion.  What wonderful toys for imaginative play!!!  They would also be perfect for grandma's house, day care centers, preschools, or doctor's or dentist's waiting rooms. These toys are developmentally appropriate for children and much better for a child's development than the Tickle Me Elmo type of toys that were promoted for the holidays last year.  Elmo may make a lot of noise and get lots of laughs, but he is a "one-trick pony" that does the same thing over and over and turns the kids into spectators rather than participants using their own imagination to create their own adventures.   Bedtime becomes much easier when kids put Bert and Ernie to bed in their own beds in the Sesame Street house before going to bed themselves. Mealtimes are more fun when the child can eat with Susan, Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. Hooper, Cookie Monster, Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch as they sit in their two-seater couch in the living room, sit on captain's chairs and eat a meal at the round table in the kitchen, or enjoy a snack at the lunch counter in Mr. Hooper's store. And when Bert and Ernie and their friends want to have some fun, they can toddle over to the Clubhouse and join Sherlock Hemlock, Roosevelt Franklin, Prairie Dawn, and The Count for some play activities.  Here is what's in store for them in the Clubhouse: A crank on the side of the clubhouse makes Big Bird's nest on top of the building spin, and activates a moving walkway.  When figures stand on the moving sidewalk it takes them to the edge and then dumps them down the curved red slide.  The front of the clubhouse has stairs that lead to a trap door that sends the characters down a chute and out the side of the building.  The front also has a green door, a black plastic tire swing attached to a horizontal spring post, and a blue flip-up lid that allows children to peek inside.  The back of the clubhouse has a green revolving door and an attached yellow merry-go-round.  And you can take two characters for a ride in a red two-seat wagon. CONDITION The two-story brownstone apartment house is clean and in good played-with condition.  Nothing is broken, and the handle closes perfectly.  There is some minor wear, small wrinkles, and water spots in the decals/lithos on the floors, walls, and sides, and some of the green paint is faded on the sides of the house that come together.  There are a few very small scratches and nicks on the plastic roof, but nothing major as you can see in the photos.  The clubhouse is very clean.
