Description
Early P&P ENTERPRISE Model No.40 Salesman Sample Stove ".......if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves" --Winston Churchill       NEVER GIVE UP YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!  "Sic Semper Tyrannis" We ship worldwide, write for quote.  Another wonderful estate find.  Back in the 1960's & '70's, I worked at Phillips & Buttorff Manufacturing in Nashville, Tennessee, the same Southern foundry that my grandfather and great grandfather had worked at.  Founded in the 1850's, Phillips & Buttorff was the oldest company in the U.S. still producing stoves and appliances. They were forced to close in the late 1970's.  Upstairs was a room called the "morgue".  It had actually been a retail showroom back in the day.  I remember there were still a couple of these 1/4 size stoves up there. These small stoves commonly called salesman's samples, were actually used by hardware & dry-goods stores to display the various models available. This one was purchased about 30 years ago when a museum in Clinton, Arkansas was closed and all the contents auctioned to the general public.  It has been in a private collection since.  This is a large model weighing about 65 pounds.  Although it is a "working model" it has never had a fire in it.   Everything works perfectly.  It features working dampers, complete burner or fire box, drafts, doors, (both sides) (foot pedal operated door on one side) ash pan, warming oven, eyes or lids, and even has one trivet which may be placed on either back corner. It even has an inner draft which completely closes off the firebox. It is my opinion that this stove was repainted all black at some time in the past. I think it was originally black with white doors. Phillips & Buttorff address and model castings in the various parts.  A true artifact from the early part of the 20th century.      WE SINCERELY APPRECIATE YOUR CONSIDERATION, AND WELCOME YOUR QUESTIONS.   Low opening bid!! and modest reserve.  We ship worldwide.  We ship worldwide.
