It commemorated the 200th anniversary of our first president's birth, who as St. James River Canal Company honorary president had direct lineage to the C&O. Advertised as "The Most Wonderful Train in the World" and pulled by a Class F-19 4-6-2 Pacific, this was the world's first air-conditioned train. Operating over the 599 miles between Washington, D.C. and Cincinnati, Ohio, it set a new standard for excellence.    Born at the depth of the Great Depression, "The George," as it became known, featured Hepplewhite and Duncan Fyffe furnishings reminiscent of colonial times.
