You Need to Own the Settlers of Catan Game by Klaus Teuber in order to use these tiles. This Catan set provides enough tiles for a 5 - 6 player game plus two additional Volcano tiles. Add a 3 Dimensional feature to your Catan games to make it that much more interesting. This is a great set of tiles for any hobby enthusiast. All 54 Catan Tiles are cast in Plaster and sealed for added strength with white shellac. The tiles are 79mm (regular size) in width. To give you an idea of the time required to make a unpainted set, here are some numbers. It takes me about 3 hours to make the tiles (includes mixing plaster and letting each batch set, 9 tiles per batch). It takes an additional 45 min to file the bottom of the tiles flat. The tiles then take one night to completely dry. The next stage is sealing the tiles in shellac. This process takes about 1 hour. The tiles then take another day to dry and harden. Here is a comparison of the new Full Sized (79mm)Tiles versus my Mini tiles (43mm). The purpose of the Volcano Tile was introduced to me by an Exchange student from Holland. The Volcano Tile has the ability to produce whichever resource the player wants. They can change the resource each time the number is rolled that corresponds to this tile. Since this Tile can give a player an advantage, it is usually given a number of 2 or 12 which are rolled the least in the game. Here is a close up of each tile type and my painting scheme.
